Attractive b/w plates, some cats but not in Wain's usual anthropomorphic style. xiii + 78 pages. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Covers soiled. Foxing throughout, mainly to endpapers. Erased child's pencil writing to front endpaper. Initial 'F' in ink to margin of page 2. Some grubby marks to pages and to rear side of some plates but generally contents still clean. A desirable copy of a very scarce Wain item.

Blackie & Son Ltd. Circa1909. Good condition with no wrapper. A Picture-Book for Little Folk. Grey pictorial paper boards depict mother cat with ball of yarn sitting next to kitten in a cradle. Dark grey endpapers. 6 Full page colour illustrations of cats plus colour illustrations to every page of rhyme. A later reprint (the first being 1908) with rhymes in a different order: First rhyme is Playtime in Pussy-Town. Backstrip missing. Edges rubbed, corners worn. A few marks and surface paper wear to covers. 0.25" loss to top of spine. Inscription in pencil to front endpaper. One or two minor crayon marks. Grubby finger marks throughout. Centre spread and verso has tape repair at middle edge for 5". Still a nice copy of a scarce Louis Wain book.

Ernest Nister. 1st 1902. Almost very good condition with no wrapper. Nister No. 742 Brown cloth spine, pictorial paper front board with blue title. Blue patterned endpapers. Mounted colour frontis. Numerous b/w and two-tone illustrations of cats. Covers fairly heavily scuffed and scratched but still attractive. Corners lightly worn. Endpapers browned. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Colour frontis shows two kittens playing cats cradle with mother in despair behind them next to a table with green cloth. Some neat colouring. A few closed tears to some margins which have been neatly repaired with clear tape. Centre page is starting to work loose from binding. Still a respectable copy of a Louis Wain book.

Green boards, black title to spine & vignette to front. B/w illustrations. Bookplate to front endpaper. Wrapper is a little grubby with worn corners.

Raphael Tuck & Sons. Circa1890. Very good condition. Raphael Tuck & Sons book No. 837. Small format. Lightly shapped top edges and vertical edges. Pictorial cardwraps. Front cover shows puss putting his boots on. Four beautiful full page colour chromolithographs, line drawings to text. 12 pages. Covers a little grubby and scuffed but still bright to front. Pages lightly browned with a few minor foxspots. Chormoliths are beautifully clean and bright. One chromolith has a small closed tear to middle of vertical edge. A super copy of a scarce book.
